The winners of the 2025 Product Leader Awards have just been announced, and reviewing this year’s class has left me with a clear perspective: AI is reshaping what counts as innovation.
Large companies and startups alike are weaving AI into their biggest wins, while mid-sized firms are still catching up. Interestingly, that lag may be an advantage, since they’ll likely adopt more mature, less error-prone tools.
What impressed me most among the strongest nominees was their ability to show results that matter: customer adoption, efficiency, market expansion.
Where some nominees fell short was in showing how their leadership made the difference. It’s easy to describe what was built, but far more powerful to explain why it mattered and what KPIs proved success.
The best leaders are experimenting, building, and empowering their teams while resisting the pressure to blindly follow trends.
These winners offer a blueprint for all of us in product. I encourage you to take a moment to study their stories. There’s a lot to learn from how they’re reshaping the role itself.
